Warm Homes: Local Grant
Fully funded insulation, heat pumps and solar panels for eligible homeowners and private tenants in England. Your home needs an EPC rating of D to G, and household income is usually £36,000 a year or less, or you receive certain benefits.
ECO4
Free or heavily discounted insulation and heating upgrades for households on lower incomes or certain benefits, funded by the major energy suppliers. ECO4 closes on 31 December 2026, so now is the time to check if you qualify.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
Get £7,500 off an air source or ground source heat pump when you replace a gas, oil, LPG or electric heating system. Homes on oil or LPG with no mains gas can get £9,000 until March 2027, and air-to-air heat pumps now qualify for £2,500.
0% VAT on Green Upgrades
Pay no VAT on solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps and insulation for your home when they're supplied and installed by the same company. The 0% rate ends on 31 March 2027 and rises to 5% from April, so installing sooner saves you more.
Smart Export Guarantee
Earn money from your solar panels by selling the electricity you don't use back to the grid. Energy suppliers pay you for every unit you export, as long as your system is MCS certified.
Warm Homes Loan Scheme
Coming soon. Government-backed low and zero interest loans to help spread the cost of heat pumps, solar panels and battery storage. Loans will be available through approved lenders, with no income limit to apply.
