Air & Ground Source Heat Pumps
Heat Pump Installation Made Simple
Heat pumps offer an efficient, low-carbon way to heat your home using natural energy from the air or ground. Our heat pump installation service covers both air and ground source systems. They keep you comfortable all year round and offer a modern alternative to traditional heating. At the same time, they help cut your energy bills and your carbon footprint. As more people look for greener heating, heat pumps have become a smart, future-proof choice for homeowners.

Ground Source Heat Pumps
Ground source heat pumps take heat from the ground using either boreholes or ground loops. Drilling boreholes needs specialist equipment, which can make it too costly for some homes. Even so, we are happy to give you information and prices on request.
For a ground loop system, we dig trenches around 1.2m deep and 50m long. The number of trenches or boreholes depends on how much heat your property loses. This works because the ground stays at a fairly constant temperature about one metre below the surface.
Ground source heat pumps cost more to install than air source heat pumps. However, they are more efficient. As a result, they cost less to run and save you more money. Because the main unit sits indoors, the weather cannot damage it and it is almost silent. You also do not need planning permission. That makes them ideal for larger properties with plenty of land, such as manor houses or farmhouses.
Air to Air Systems
Air to air systems take heat from the outside air in exactly the same way as an air source heat pump. However, instead of radiators or underfloor heating, they use indoor units mounted just below ceiling height. These units then blow warm (or cool) air around your home. For this reason, they are ideal for cooling very warm rooms, such as conservatories. They also suit properties that have no radiators or underfloor heating.

Benefits of Heat Pumps
Capable of providing you with 100% of your space heating and/or hot water requirements all year round
No planning permission needed for ground source heat pumps. Air to air systems and air source heat pumps also fall under permitted development, unless you install more than one unit.
Ground Source and Air Source Heat Pumps are eligible for the boiler upgrade scheme through Ofgem. This is a £7,500 voucher.
Can save you a lot on fuel bills if you use electric, oil or LPG heating. You can still make good savings if you are on gas.
Will lower your carbon emissions (depending on which fuel you are replacing)
Really really happy with our decision to use Eco Trades to fit a full central heating system and heat pump in our Victorian terraced house. The whole team were so helpful - from helping us source radiators at a great price to rethinking how the hot water tank controls were installed to give us better use of the kitchen, at every step they worked to get the best possible result for us. Throughout the work they did an amazing job at the end of every day to put the house back in order for us in the evening, which was very appreciated! Communication was great and they were quick to answer questions + make changes when needed. The installation has been done to a really high standard and the heat pump is running well. We now can't wait for winter to get to use the radiators!
