Hot Water Solutions

Solar Thermal Panel Installation

Our solar thermal panel installation service lets you heat your water using energy from the sun. Solar thermal panels or tubes can produce around 50% to 70% of an average home's hot water over the year. In summer, they can often provide all of it.

You need hot water every day, so it will always cost something. However, solar power can bring that cost down. While energy suppliers can raise their prices, the sun's energy costs nothing.

At Eco Trades, we install reliable solar thermal systems with roof-mounted collectors. These absorb the sun's energy and pass it to your hot water cylinder. As a result, your boiler or other heating source has less work to do. Solar thermal performs best in sunnier months, so it works well alongside heat pumps and solar PV. Together, they lower your energy demand all year round. We also design every system for the best efficiency, performance and long-term savings.

Solar thermal tubes installed on a tiled roof

Benefits of Solar Thermal

No planning permission required (unless you live in a conservation area or listed building)

Reduces reliance on your boiler and traditional heating systems

Cuts carbon emissions and supports sustainable living

Can provide 50-70% of your annual hot water needs, and up to 100% in summer

Works alongside existing boilers, heat pumps and solar PV

Thermodynamic Panels

Thermodynamic panels can provide 100% of your hot water and/or central heating needs. The panels contain a liquid refrigerant that absorbs heat from the air around them, thanks to the difference in temperature. Then, a compressor and heat exchanger use this heat to warm the water in your home. For most 3 to 4 bedroom houses, one panel is enough.

Unlike solar thermal, thermodynamic panels do not rely on the sun. Instead, they work day and night, in all weathers and down to -15°C. You can mount them on a roof, wall or the ground, facing any direction. Even so, we still recommend south-facing for extra solar gain. At Eco Trades, we design thermodynamic systems to work with other renewables, such as solar PV and heat pumps. This gives you a steady, cost-effective hot water supply all year round, whatever the weather. They are also ideal for off-grid properties.

Thermodynamic panel mounted on an exterior wall

Benefits of Thermodynamic Panels

Capable of providing 100% of your hot water and/or space heating, all year round

Doesn't rely on the sun, so it works day and night, whatever the weather

Continues to perform down to -15°C

Can be roof, wall or ground mounted, and positioned in any direction

A single panel is enough for most 3-4 bed homes

Works alongside other renewables such as solar PV and heat pumps

Great work by the whole team, fitted in between other projects they had at hand. Very much appreciated. Systems back up and running.
